DSTV and EPG
Apologies for the radio silence lately but I have not been doing a lot of coding lately due to either my professional work or some other sideline projects that have emerged (details to follow).
Anyways, thanks to the brilliance of the internet I would like to make some noise to a bigger audience if I may.
I was recently super chuffed with the purchase of a new TV Card that I bought and used for a MythTV setup on my machine running Ubuntu. With everything working it was now time to sort out the TV Shedules when I was met with complete horror.
DSTV (Multichoice) in South Africa refuses completely to give any of it’s paying subscribes any Electronic Programme Guide (EPG). They even go as far as to threaten people with lawsuits for even trying to do so by scraping the DSTV website to create the needed EPG.
There is a Petition being run at the moment to hopefully change this and help Multichoice see the error of their ways and move into the future without any kicking and screaming.
Do us a favour and please sign the Petition. Let’s be heard.
